Symptom: Three putts from close range, especially when the first putt goes well past the cup, and you say something like "Wow, I guess it's more downhill than I thought!"
Description: When your putt rolls far past the cup, don't leave your comeback (uphill) putt short, or play too much break.
Why it Works: Of course, the ideal missed putt finishes about 18 inches past the cup. But, sometimes we all underestimate the speed or slope of the green and end up several feet past. It is an instinctive, emotional reaction to not want to repeat this mistake on the next putt, but BE CAREFUL! The reason the putt went so far by the cup in the first place is because you misread the speed. This same logic means that the comeback putt is probably MORE UPHILL (and therefore slower) than you think!

Don't leave the comeback putt short! And don't give it too much break either. Just as downhill putts have more break, uphill putts have less break. It's all gravity and physics.
So give the ball a firm rap on that comeback putt, don't play too much break, and stay away from three-putt land.
